Delicious, Easy and Nutritious:
Three words come to my minds when I think about Hispanic food: Delicious, Easy and Nutritious. Foods from every country are delicious and most of the time, nutritious. Also, you can make changes to any recipe in order to make it more nutritious. Ingredients are used in a way in which the outcome is a very delicious meal that most of the time is not hard to make and at the same time are healthy. As a mother I worry a lot about what my children eat, and trying to make smart meal choices can sometimes prove to be quite a task. Another plus about Hispanic food is that children usually like it because it tastes and looks good.
The common staples in Latin-American cuisine are:
- Rice
- Beans
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Garlic
- Proteins of some sort such as chicken, beef, pork, seafood and so on.
My intention with this blog is to explore different recipes from all around Latin-America, and play with them in order to make them healthier and easier to make. For now I will start by exploring the countries that are the closest to my roots and that I am more familiar with. I am open and actually looking forward to any type of comments or inquiries you may have about anything that I write about. Feel free to leave comments, insights and any words of encouragement.
